Bug?

is this indeed a bug and fixed in a later version or is it a bug that needs fixing (or not a bug at all?)?  Thanks.

That is due to a limitation in the gzip format, which was designed by
someone who thought files would never exceed 4 GiB in size.  It's documented in the manual.
