Blind user requires assistanceQuite some time ago I read an article about a sound editor designed in
SC that was specifically designed for the blind user. Unfortunately I forget where this article is and who the developer is. I'd like to get in touch with them to see if I could get a copy of this editor, I'd be willing to provide feedback of course as another blind user. If there's any other blind SC users about I'd like to speak with them as well for any tips and ideas they might have. Thanks. _______________________________________________ sc-users mailing list info (subscribe and unsubscribe): http://swiki.hfbk-hamburg.de:8888/MusicTechnology/880 archive: http://www.listarc.bham.ac.uk/marchives/sc-users/ search: http://www.listarc.bham.ac.uk/lists/sc-users/search/ |

If it is just for a sound editor (and SC is not essential)... you may want to look at Ecasound http://www.eca.cx/ecasound/ It's a commandline based multitrackeditor on Linux. There are some good tutorials written by blind users of it. In any case, for blind users, I think Linux is the way to go, as there are several other text based audio apps there... sincerely, Marije _______________________________________________ sc-users mailing list info (subscribe and unsubscribe): http://swiki.hfbk-hamburg.de:8888/MusicTechnology/880 archive: http://www.listarc.bham.ac.uk/marchives/sc-users/ search: http://www.listarc.bham.ac.uk/lists/sc-users/search/ |

Re: Blind user requires assistanceHi Alan,
yes, we designed a prototype, which can be used to do basic multitrack mixing. after having sorted out a few issues this prototype will be actually released (though a few other issues will still remain, until we get into another phase of development). But i can send you a copy off list. best, Jan On Jun 27, 2008, at 10:04 PM, Alan Yoder wrote: > Quite some time ago I read an article about a sound editor designed > in SC that was specifically designed for the blind user. > Unfortunately I forget where this article is and who the developer is. > I'd like to get in touch with them to see if I could get a copy of > this editor, I'd be willing to provide feedback of course as > another blind user. > If there's any other blind SC users about I'd like to speak with > them as well for any tips and ideas they might have. > Thanks. > > > _______________________________________________ > sc-users mailing list > > > info (subscribe and unsubscribe): http://swiki.hfbk-hamburg.de:8888/ > MusicTechnology/880 > archive: http://www.listarc.bham.ac.uk/marchives/sc-users/ > search: http://www.listarc.bham.ac.uk/lists/sc-users/search/ _______________________________________________ sc-users mailing list info (subscribe and unsubscribe): http://swiki.hfbk-hamburg.de:8888/MusicTechnology/880 archive: http://www.listarc.bham.ac.uk/marchives/sc-users/ search: http://www.listarc.bham.ac.uk/lists/sc-users/search/ |

Re: Blind user requires assistancesorry, but i doubt this, setting up linux and hardware without a
standard voice over or screen reader would be quite a challenge, i imagine. anyway, thanks for the link, looks interesting. j On Jun 28, 2008, at 1:28 AM, nescivi wrote: > In any case, for blind users, I think Linux is the way to go, as > there are > several other text based audio apps there... _______________________________________________ sc-users mailing list info (subscribe and unsubscribe): http://swiki.hfbk-hamburg.de:8888/MusicTechnology/880 archive: http://www.listarc.bham.ac.uk/marchives/sc-users/ search: http://www.listarc.bham.ac.uk/lists/sc-users/search/ |

In the linux audio community there seem to be quite a few blind users... sincerely, Marije _______________________________________________ sc-users mailing list info (subscribe and unsubscribe): http://swiki.hfbk-hamburg.de:8888/MusicTechnology/880 archive: http://www.listarc.bham.ac.uk/marchives/sc-users/ search: http://www.listarc.bham.ac.uk/lists/sc-users/search/ |

They seem (the console based ones anyway) to integrate right into the kernel. Those readers for the various GUI desktops and such that exist do not, they run on top of those GUIs, though this isn't all that bad, because windows screen readers do the same thing. _______________________________________________ sc-users mailing list info (subscribe and unsubscribe): http://swiki.hfbk-hamburg.de:8888/MusicTechnology/880 archive: http://www.listarc.bham.ac.uk/marchives/sc-users/ search: http://www.listarc.bham.ac.uk/lists/sc-users/search/ |

Re: Blind user requires assistancehello Alan,
Mario Lang used to be on this list (and also the sc-dev list). he wrote the EmacsWidget classes which you might want to try out. you can find his posts in the archives. and here is some old code i had laying around. perhaps you will find it useful. if you press the escape key, it will look through the post window and the speak the last error posted. if you press alt +escape it will speak the last warning posted. only tested on osx and might not work on other platforms. put it in your startup.rtf file and recompile. //--begin sc code: //find last posted error. esc to speak last error, alt+esc to speak last warning. ( Document.globalKeyDownAction_{|doc, key, mod, code| var d, i; if(code==27, { //esc d= Document.listener.string; if(mod&524288==524288, { //esc+alt i= d.findBackwards("WARNING:"); if(i.notNil, { ("warning"+(d.copyRange(i, i+200).split($\r)[1])).speak; }); }, { //plain esc i= d.findBackwards("ERROR:"); if(i.notNil, { d.copyRange(i, i+100).split($\r)[0].speak; }); }); "" }); } ) //--test OOO.new 1.asd 1\2 11 s.quit {SinOsc.ar}.play //warns about localhost not running //--end sc code 1 jul 2008 kl. 16.40 skrev Julio d'Escrivan: > Hi Alan, > > Just to say hello, and that it would be good to network with you so > you can give us feedback on the app as we are hoping to develop an > extensive project on this...
