Auto-update does not change version number of directoryI updated from Komodo 4.2 to 4.4.0 yesterday using the Help Menu->Check For Updates option. This had me update to 4.3.0 first. Then to 4.3.1. Then to 4.3.2. Finally, it updated to 4.4.0. Then I noticed that the name of the directory and the desktop icon still said it was Komodo 4.2. However, the executable is definitely 4.4.0. This seems like an updater/installer bug. -Tom Notice The information in this message is confidential and may be legally privileged. It is intended solely for the addressee. Yes, it is a known issue that was "fixed" in Komodo 4.3 -- I believe, I may be wrong at that the fix was in the 4.4 alphas/betas. Here the "fix" is to get it right from that point on rather than getting, say, the Komodo 4.4 installer/updater to go back and clean up old desktop shortcuts. We *could* (and should) fix Komodo's auto-update to clean up old shortcuts, quick launch links, Start Menu program group names and "Add/Remove Programs" meta data -- but haven't done that yet. Regarding the install directory: the default install dir for 4.2 includes the ".2". Komodo's auto-update for 4.3 and 4.4 cannot *change* the install directory after the fact. To get everything very clean you could go to Start > Settings > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall all versions of Komodo. Then install Komodo 4.4. After that the directory names, shortcuts, etc. should be correct for updates (*). Sincerely, Trent (*) With the remaining exception that the version number in Add/Remove Programs is still not being updated. -- Trent Mick trentm at activestate.com _______________________________________________ Komodo-discuss mailing list Komodo-discuss@... Re: Auto-update does not change version number of directoryThanks Trent, If I remove all versions of Komodo, then reinstall 4.4.0, will it retain code snippets that I have placed in the toolbox? -Tom Notice The information in this message is confidential and may be legally privileged. Those are stored in your "user data dir" outside of the Komodo install area. http://community.activestate.com/faq/komodo-file-locations Trent -- Trent Mick trentm at activestate.com _______________________________________________ Komodo-discuss mailing list Komodo-discuss@...
