Audacity 1.2.6

I have downloaded and installed Vers 1.2.6 and registered the program. However listening to e.g. King FM in the computer  I cannot record the sound I hear in the loudspeakers. Using CD, Line etc does not work. Stereo mix creates a terribble noise. Recording with the program 'Total Recorder' works without any problem.
Please what to do? WvS Sweden.

Please note Audacity is free and does not require registration. To obtain

"Stereo Mix" is the option on your sound device that should in principle
record the computer output, but it depends on the drivers of the sound
device working properly - they may not be working at all, or they may
not be allowing Audacity to interface with the system mixer, so you might
not in fact be recording stereo mix when you try to select it in Audacity.    

Total Recorder works because it installs its own virtual driver that is
separate from the sound device. Please note if you have not done so
already that you must in Audacity explicitly choose your inbuilt sound device
in the Audio I/O tab of Audacity Preferences as the "playback device" and
"recording device". Don't choose either "Total Recorder" or "Microsoft Sound
Mapper" (in case the current Windows default is Total Recorder) - Total
Recorder drivers won't work with Audacity and usually cause it to freeze up.

If you are have not yet purchased Total Recorder in order to remove the
noise that is added every minute, there is a free alternative here that also
uses its own drivers (but does not install them in the system mixer):

To try and record streaming audio from your sound device you will have to
go into the Windows Control Panel and try to select "stereo mix" there and
turn its volume up. Having done that, exit Audacity and restart it then try to

As it says there, if you are still not able to use the sound device to record
streaming audio, then updating its drivers to the latest ones for your computer
model made by the manufacturer of the device or motherboard may help.

in Finland for the rest of the week, I shall start trying to solve my
