Are 5501's Safe To Buy/Use now ?

Hi all,

I have been putting off buying a 5501 because of all the complaints/issues I
have seen posted. However, I suspect lots of the initial bugs have been fixed.

Is this the case ?

Will a 5501 "just work" with FreeBSD ? Or are there still outstanding issues ?

With RELENG_7 it will work fine. The ethernet drivers before RELENG_7
dont work very well however.

I recently updated the bios to 1.33b on two 5501-60s and had no
problem with freebsd or openbsd. Ended up with a customing
flastdist/openbsd to support a gigabit nic and pfflowd.....

I think I received your mail in error! As it is your property, I really
want to give it back to you. Haven't even slightly looked at it and am
really scared now that some Aussy Secret Service guys show up and
terminate me.

Regards,
Johannes
