Guys:

I made a new folder in /web called /webflow and I'm going to do it all
over again using Webflow there. Once I get a reply as to where we do
it, I'll revise to suit. This will let me do the whole Webflow thing
in it's own module (locally).

Spring Web Flow and AppFuse

Matt:

If I begin to hack at bringing up the Spring web module is that okay?
I don't want to focus in that direction and you have a problem with
it. I'll do it all first local. And, I figured that WebFlow sits on
Spring Faces and Spring Javascript and Spring MVC. Seems like the
best thing to bring the Spring web module up to snuff.

Thoughts before I start. I won't check in anything until I know it's
ready. And I may stick it somewhere for folks to review too before I
would check anything in. I'm working on my own thing too but I want
to at least do a Spring Web Flow implementation somewhere and AppFuse
would get the facelift in the Spring module.

If you think we could use another separate one, say so. That's an option too.

Anyway I created a BaseController for Spring Annotated MVC. I also provided an example class using this BaseController. Sorry for not providing the other classes. But the other classes are DTOs and nothing much. I hope these two classes could be helpful.

Just a shut in the wild, but maybe germane is the default language and
the failure messages are missing in english locale? Have you checked?

Last information, before I give up on that problem:

I oberved that this error occurs only(!) when the locale is set to English!
If the locale is set to any language but English then the error messages
are displayed in the correct language.

Hi,

I'm using contrib table and I want to use number formating on some of
the columns of the table's content. The tag is like this:

The problem is caused by the behavior of the load() method in java.util.Properties. From the JDK docs:

The method does not treat a backslash character, \, before a non-valid escape character as an error; the backslash is silently dropped. For example, in a Java string the sequence "\z" would cause a compile time error. In contrast, this method silently drops the backslash. Therefore, this method treats the two character sequence "\b" as equivalent to the single character 'b'.

As configured, the hibernate3 plugin is loading the jdbc.properties file, whereas the dbunit plugin is being configured using variable replacement in pom.xml. This isn't technically an AppFuse problem. The backslashes need to be escaped (doubled) in the hibernate3 plugin, for instance, the way the Maven resources plugin handles them:

I have run into the same issue with both the H2 and HSQLDB databases. It appears to be a problem with backslashes in the path returned for "java.io.tmpdir" on Windows (I am running Vista). When I ran the application ("mvn jetty:run"), the initial database is created and populated by hbm2ddl in a folder named "UsersUserAppDataLocal" under the project folder, instead of my temp folder "C:\Users\User\AppData\Local" (the path returned by the "java.io.tmpdir" property). When the dbunit goal runs it creates the database again (since it didn't find it) in "C:\Users\User\AppData\Local" but then complains that tables don't exists because it's not using the database created earlier by hbm2ddl.

Initially, it looks like hbm2ddl, or the wrapping Maven plugin, is removing the backslashes from the path and concatenating the directory names together. When I hardcode the path to my temp folder using forward slashes instead, as in "C:/Users/User/AppData/Local", it works fine.

Locale problem after Struts2 validation

Problem: After validating a form, the error message is always displayed in German
although I have set a different locale and the rest of the page is displayed in English.
Even the fallback locale is set to English. I must have introduced
this problem somewhere, but I have no idea where. Here are the facts:

1. I set the locale programmatically depending on the current user's language.
To do this I replaced the LocaleFilter by my own version. I wrote about
that here.

User's language is English --> both locale values are set to "en": locale and preferredLocale

2. ActionContext.getContext().getLocale(); --> returns "en"

3. here are the request attributes of my locale filter: is there any critical information?

Referencing properties in AppicationResources*

Is it possible to reference a property inside an ApplicationResources*.propeties file.
I'd like to reuse some properties in more complex phrases.

For instance:

# List of vehicles
vehicle=Vehicle
vehicle.car=Car

# car form
# car.label.type=<reference vehicle.car>
# car.accident=This <reference vehicle.car> had an accident.

I tried to google this information, but the keywords are too general and I ended up
with lots of non-relevant pages.

Wel you could intercept the method which saves your product, check wether ANY and NONE shipments are already present in the database and insert them otherwise. In your 'normal' code for saving the product you replace the final static objects by the ones persited in the database whenever ANY oder NONE is selected.

But I think it's overpowered to use method interception in that case. I'd just use DBunit to prepopulate the database with any data necessary. In my experience these data increases as the application grows. ;-)

So the combo box will display all data in the preferred ship table including ANY and NONE and there, you do not have to treat them differently.
