Any progress on the MF4150?

Hi all,

Just wondering if any progress has been made and/or if I can do
anything else to help the progress on the MF-4150?  My two week return
window has closed, so I'm just crossing my fingers that something will
happen.

Also, if anyone is interested in the unit, it's selling for $129 at
frys again this week!

I guess you didn't get my email (again).  I looked at your logs and they look a lot like the mp730.  I asked you to try moving the USB PID
and device entry to pixma_mp730.c

Let me know if you need the patch again.

Also, it looks like your MF4150 has the same USB PID as the MF4140 but a different protocol.  I'm not sure what to do about that.

Hi Dennis,

I feel a bit confused following discussions on MF4140 and MF4150.
I understand that they share same PID.

>From Daniel's mail, looks like 4140 signs itself as a 4150

And finally, does pixma backend need a patch to handle MF4140 ?

I can look also if it is possible to handle simply both devices in the
backend ...

Nicolas,

I can only tell you what my MF4150 is reporting--Hope it helps.

sane-find-scanner reports
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon Inc.], product=0x26a3
[MF4100]) at libusb:003:004-04a9-26a3-00-00

and scanimage -L reports
device `pixma:04A926A3_SDF7Z0155773B' is a CANON Canon imageCLASS
MF4150 multi-function peripheral

Ok, as far as I understand, we have 2 models - 4140 and 4150 - which
share a same usb pid, but use a different pixma protocol version.

I'm having a look in the pixma backend on how we could deal with this.

What report sane-find-scanner and scanimage -L seems right:

sane-find-scanner reports info taken from the usb device itself, here
the MF4150 (same info as in a lsusb -v)

scanimage -L reports the info placed in the pixma backend for this
corresponding vid/pid
