Hi Scim Developers!
I created and maintain 2 tables of definition for Vietnamese Input
Methods more than one year. Some people help me to test it and now i
think they are stable to submit to community.
Till now, Scim-tables only support VIQR, there are 2 popular methods
in Vietnam, they are Telex and VNI, two new definition tables come
with more comfortable inputting for Vietnamese people.
Regards,
Thach Anh.

I'm working on a native Vietnamese input method based on the rawcode
IM engine. A usable beta should be out in a week or two.

I agree though, these IMs are very usable. It'd be nice to include
those in the defaults, the VIQR input method hasn't been used for
years.

Regards,
Tu

The latest m17n-lib and m17n-db already support all of VIQR,
TELEX, VNI, and TCVN via scim-m17n.  Have you tried them?

I haven't tested the VNI IM, but the TELEX support is much better in
1.5.1 :-) thanks a lot for the info. I feel dumb reinventing the wheel
now.

Ubuntu LP bug filed:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/m17n-lib/+bug/212352

Thanks again,
Tu

P/S: Love the LISP code.

Basically they all use the same algorithm to decide where to
put tone mark when it's typed at the end of syllable.  If
you find something is wrong, please check the macro
handle-mark in the file vi-base.mim.  They also have a
facility of temporarily escape (by double-typing a key) and
permanent escape (by typing '\') to English mode.

Hi!
I don't use m17n-lib, but only scim-table with a simpler solution and no coding.
When i dicided to create my own table, i did not find any information
about a complete solution with m17n-db for TELEX/VNI input method.
It may be another way to typing Vietnamese. I hope it will be included
in Scim-Tables package, addition to the VIQR table.
Regards,
Thach Anh.
