An ALSA Solution!, and a question..

Ok many new distros do _not_ support OSS properly out of the box, nor
should they with its deprecated status.

Now you can always call your app via the aoss script, but many times
that is not a solution.  I have found that if you just pass -laoss to
the linker that audiere works out of the box without the wrapping
script.

Tested only on Kubuntu 7.04, but it should work on any system.

*************

Now although that provides a temporary solution, is _anyone_ working
on an ALSA device?

Not that I'm aware of.  Patches welcome.  (Or I'm happy to give commit access.)
