Hi All,

I think I did a backup sucessfully, but I cannot check as i do not have
a logs although the folder
/var/log/amanda/fullback was created.

1. How do I switch the logs in the config so as to check the status of
the backup.

2. amrecover is giving this message

root@backupserver:/etc/amanda/fullback# amrecover fullback
AMRECOVER Version 2.5.2. Contacting server on callisto ...
[request failed: getaddrinfo(callisto): Temporary failure in name resolution
]
root@backupserver:/etc/amanda/fullback#

Any thoughts.

Kind Regards,
Prashant

Hi All

I did the following.

root@backupserver:/etc/amanda/fullback# amrecover -C fullback -s
localhost -t localhost -d /dev/nst0
AMRECOVER Version 2.5.2. Contacting server on localhost ...
NAK: user root from localhost is not allowed to execute the service
amindexd: Please add "amindexd amidxtaped" to the line in
/var/lib/amanda/.amandahosts on the client

In the the following correct?

root@backupserver:/etc/amanda/fullback# more /var/lib/amanda/.amandahosts
localhost amanda amdump
backupserver.bluebarracuda.com amanda amdump
backupserver.bluebarracuda.com root amindexd
backupserver.bluebarracuda.com root amidxtaped

Kind Regards,
Prashant

Amanda told you to add "amindexd" and "amidxtaped" for localhost. Then you need:
localhost    amanda    amdump amindexd amidxtaped
