Alternative data binding strategies for XUL?

Hi all,

I have been looking at XUL on and off for over a year. From my understanding it seems that data transfer and binding is done solely via RDF. I keep hoping that an alternative to rdf for data transfer/binding will be introduced, even if its straight xml.

I have no desire to learn RDF especially since it looks like a technology that never took off. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas on this?
