I set up the second installation of Flyspray, by first creating a
separate database and then on set up choose that database and putting
all the file in separate directory from the first installation. It
works just fine.
Now, in this second environment I would like to be able to do some
"agile" development, which means that we want to start using it right
away, set up a lot of different projects (I'm migrating from a wiki
where things are chaos...) set up custom Task Types, Task Statuses,
Categories, resolutions etc. ... but then if we decide we don't like
the decisions we made we want to be able to refine or change those
choice lists later..
What constraints are we going to face if we have tasks that use a Task
Type, for example, that we decide we no longer want to use? If we try
to delete that Task type in Preferences, will it denied because a
task has been created that uses it? I did figure out how to delete
tasks safely from the back end... but I would rather not do that if I
can help it, as I;'m not sure how many dependencies there may be on a
given task and I don't want to break Flyspray. I'm happy to keep tasks
"forever" but we need the flexibility to be able to change It seems
rather "crippling" to framework not to be able to make changes in
these choice lists: Task Type; Category; Status; Assigned To;
Operating System.. over time... both for specific projects and for all
projects.
Can we do that? if so how? OR do we need to stop and spend days
thinking through our choices in the preferences and then live with
those "forever" even if they don't work well later...?
