AGILE 2006
July 23-29, 2006
Hyatt Regency Hotel
Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

*** CFP SUBMISSION DEADLINES WILL SOON ARRIVE ***

- January 31, 2006:  Discovery Session, Experience Reports, Hands-on
   Sessions, Tutorials

- February 28, 2006:  Research Papers, Educators' Symposium

Agile 2006 will be an exciting conference about techniques and
technologies, attitudes and policies, research and experience, and the
management and development sides of agile software development. The
agile approach focuses on delivering business value early in the project
lifetime and being able to incorporate emergent requirements. It
accentuates the use of rich, informal communication channels and
frequent delivery of running, tested systems, while attending to the
human component of software development.

Agile 2006 gives attendees access to the latest thinking in this domain,
and bridges communities that rarely get a proper chance to exchange
ideas and thoughts. It brings together researchers from labs and
academia with executives, managers, and developers in the trenches of
software development. The conference is not about a single methodology
or approach, but rather provides a forum for the exchange of information
regarding all agile development technologies.

Visit the conference website at http://www.agile2006.com for details on
all submission categories and links to the online submission areas.

We invite submissions for the following:

**Research paper
An original contribution to the field of agile development. These
submissions have the potential to promote reflection in the field, to
deepen our understanding of agile approaches, to influence future
developments, and to inspire innovation.

**Educators' Symposium
A one-day event targeted particularly for agile educators. Sessions here
may take a variety of forms, such as papers, panels and activities.

**Experience Report
An opportunity to describe what did or didn't work for you on a project.
Experience reports allow practitioners to share practical advice and
warnings to other teams.  The proposal is a short summary of your
experience which will result in a paper presentation at the conference.

**Discovery Session
An opportunity for conference attendees to learn from each other about a
relevant topic and share the concrete outcomes after the session. These
90 or 180 minute sessions may take several formats including a think
tank, a goldfish bowl or a workshop.

**Tutorial
An opportunity for an expert to share knowledge with others through a
combination of lecture and exercise. Tutorials may be either 90 or 180
minutes.

**Hands-on session
An all-day or multi-day event during which participants are encouraged
to drop in and stay from one hour to all day to work hands-on developing
software. In past years, hands-on events featured the FIT Fest, which
provided opportunities to use FIT and FitNesse.

I am helping this company find a PM. Feel free to redistribute,

will see it.

Title: Senior Project Manager
Location: On-site, New York City, NY
Reports to: VP of Engineering

We are a cutting edge startup which has developed an elegant yet
powerful
visual interface whereby anyone can build applications that, for
example,
enable disparate systems to communicate without having to write code.
Some of
our first customers are leading financial institutions.

Responsibilities
----------------

We are looking for a strong project manager with full life-cycle
development
experience.  As the senior project manager, you will have the overall
responsibility for the creation, continuous development, evolution, and
implementation of project management processes and systems to fulfill
the
requirements set by management.  You will be managing the day-to-day
process
of software development, providing management with advice, alternatives,
estimates and judgments on development cost, in time, money and other
resources for tasks, features, and projects presented by management,
and for
tracking the utilization of those resources on projects.

You will work closely with senior technical staff as well as business
staff
and provide detailed project status information including ASAP
notification
of anything that is off-schedule and/or seems likely to soon be off-
schedule.
Management will also be looking to draw on your experience to suggest
process
improvements in all aspects of the software development process ---
including
requirements gathering, documentation, and change control.

Requirements
------------

Your background should include managing major revisions, releases, or
development of commercial or enterprise software.  You should have a
proven
commitment to best practices in project management, including
knowledge of
systems and processes for schedule management, resource allocation,
budgeting, issue tracking, estimating, and quality control.  You
should have
real-world experience with multiple project management methodologies
and be
able to articulate the differences, similarities, advantages and
disadvantages to non-project management professionals.

You should have excellent plays-well-with-others skills, and like
working
with many different kinds of people.

You should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication
skills.
If possible, include writing samples that describe complex issues for
non-technical audiences.

Familiarity with specific technologies, though preferred, is second to
experience implementing and managing controls for software development.
Position requires adeptness working with engineering staff and
business unit
personnel.  The ability to manage expectations realistically and
collegially
is highly valued.

Sense of humor.

Nice To Have
------------

Experience with XP, SCRUM, Agile methodologies in general.

Experience managing projects with geographically dispersed teams (please
indicate this in your cover letter).

PMP certification, experience working with an ASP model, and
familiarity with
SQA processes.

Experience managing non-software projects, especially other types of
projects that involve teams of diverse skill areas, such as film or
video production.
