API's Differences between 2.13.5 & 2.14.1

Can anyone shed some light on why the following API's are missing from 2.14.1 :

     * gtk_font_selection_get_face_entry
     * gtk_font_selection_get_family_entry
       Both of these were removed in 2.13.7

     * gtk_widget_get_allocation
       Removed in 2.14.1 (that I know of)

     * gtk_window_get_default
       Removed in 2.13.6 (AFAICS)


I thought API changes like this should not be taking place ?

the API added in the odd numbered releases can change. once it's in an
even numbered release it's fixed and it won't be removed.

that's why gtk+ has an odd/even numbered release cycle in the first
place.
