The three things aren't really connected.
AJAX is as accessible as you make it - the key's to 508 compliance are
accessibility - as long as your content is available to disabled users in
some form then you're set.
AJAZ can be used for client-server application development or as "spot help"
for specific tasks (such as populating drop downs). You have the same 508
concerns as you would with non-AJAX code.
AJAX is really a "thing" - it's a concept (and not a new one). "AJAX" isn't
cross platform compatible (because it's not code) but rather any particular
AJAX toolset might be or might not be.
Just as you wouldn't ask "is procedural programming cross platform" or "are
vector graphics cross platform" you wouldn't ask the same for AJAX which
just describes a loose idea of how to code an application.
