I downloaded and installed AIMLPad yesterday along with the WordNet extensions and a few other things. I'm having trouble getting my head wrapped around the basics. I did find the extensive system documentation guide in the /Docs directory and a few other help documents, but I can't seem to find the equivalent of the usual quickie guide that gives you an overview of the Notepad Editor basics.
Is there a document anywhere that gives basic explanation and hopefully examples of what each menu item in the AIMLPad editor does (E.g. - Learn, Sort, Dump, List Targets, etc.)?
For an example of one of things I just don't seem to grasp:
I load a script like CChat.txt into the notepad. I then click on the "Chat Mode" button. If I type a line the system does respond to my input. But what seems weird is by typing into the document window as I am, I'm adding junk into the script script I loaded; my queries and the system responses are now intermixed with the script code. Also, when I hit the Chat Mode button, did AIMLPad automatically parse, load and run the CChat.txt script I have open in the Notepad? It doesn't seem that way. It seems as if I'm interacting with the basic AIMLPad system, not a particular script.
It's this sort of thing that's confusing me.
Thanks,
Robert
