My experments with puppy and my intention to go to fedora prompts this question.
I was unable in puppy to set up e-mail based on my yahoo SSL protocol I assume. So I would have to go to Yahoo to check, receive and answer if necessary.
So here is the seemingly dumb question. Lets assume I went totally linux, no access to windows (this will be a reality shortly) will I in fedora continue to not have e-mail capability, or is there a fetch it process by anyone that overcomes this Yahoo constraint. Please do not tell me about free yahoo mail I pay a ton each month for my yahoo DSL and plus mail would not change a thing in terms of Linux

according to this...
http://news.softpedia.com/news/Yahoo-Mail-Still-No-POP3-IMAP-Just-a-Shortcut-for-the-Time-Being-81688.shtml

you can simply setup any mail client to use pop3 and get your e-mail
with a 'Yahoo Mail Plus' account so you have a bunch of options on
Linux. You should have been able to do the same thing with 'puppy Linux'

What do you currently use to read it?  If you use an ordinary mail
client on Windows, then another ordinary mail client on Linux should
work, as well.

You've mentioned "SSL" but that's a vague description.  SSL is
encryption, it's not a transfer protocol.  And it can be used over a
variety of data transfer protocols, HTTPS being just one of them.
Evolution can use SSL with at least the IMAP protocol, but I haven't
looked through all the options.

We're a bit lucky down here, Yahoo still has a POP3 interface to their
free mail, so I can use any mail client.

Don't send private replies to my address, the mailbox is ignored.  I
read messages from the public lists.

It is not that hard to set up using Thunderbird. The main thing is
getting the correct servers. It does POP3 just fine. You have to go
to the "MEMBER CENTER". Under "Frequently Asked Questions", there is
a link called "POP, SMTP and NNTP server settings". This should give
you the proper servers to use, and the settings.
