I downloaded 1.3.5 but found out that lack of USB support
for Garmin was not listed as one of the new features.

1.3.3 was available and seems to work OK. Following
the OS Notes for Linux FC8 the USB permissions rule still works.
However, I was not able to put "blacklist garmin_gps" in any file
that makes a difference, in particular the instructions given for
Ubuntu Dapper Drake.

/sbin/rmmod garmin_gps works (as su).
        Thanks in advance,
                John Jarvis

Because it's not.

Are you saying that GPSBabel itself works fine but that the required
steps to remove the disfunctional kernel drivers have changed?

It's not clear what the variable is in your post: 1.3.3 vs. 1.3.5 or FC-something-before-9 vs. FC9.
