I found in a list archive:

As long as this is a serial cable (not USB) "UPSCABLE smart" should work
just fine.

I too always used 940-0024C for 940-0024D cable. Should 940-0024D be
added to the list of supported cables or is it better to use smart always?
In this case, are all the specific 940-* cables still needed in apcupsd.conf?
