5501, openvpn, openbsd and throughput

Hello, World!

I would like to use a couple of 5501 as gateway and openvpn
clients/servers. I've got a 10Mbps symetric internet connection. Does
anyone know if we can have up top 10Mbps of throughput with such a
configuration or if I'll be limited by the hardware?

Thanks for your reply,
-AJ

See last week's thread "Soekris 5501 and pfSense with VPN", where it
is said the hardware can readily support a total VPN throughput of
20Mbps under OpenBSD.

If your VPN uses AES-128, the Net5501 has OpenBSD-supported
acceleration, so you may see lower CPU load if you make this the
preferred encryption for the VPN.

I use a 5501 as gateway on my 100 Mb/s Internet connection. I have
seen transfer speeds of up to 11 MB/s (that is megabytes) so you
should not be hardware limited. I use Gentoo Linux and the transfers
were straight ftp transfers.
