4D Mac-to-Windows Guide?Folks:
Some years ago I remember seeing a list or outline of recommended steps for converting a 4D database from Mac-specific to cross-platform. I¹ve now been tasked with rolling out Windows clients for a mature (15+ years old!) Mac client-server app. (The server will remain on an Xserve.) I¹ve known for a long time that this might happen, so I¹ve added in some of the obvious things as I went along: testing the platform on startup, loading the appropriate directory separator into a variable and using that in paths, etc. I know some of the adjustments that I¹ll have to make (e.g., where documents get saved) and that I¹m in for lots of fun updating and/or duplicating forms so they¹ll look right on Windows, but I¹m looking for guidance to avoid the pitfalls I *don¹t* see coming. So if you remember the list that I vaguely recall, or if you can point me to some other helpful resources, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance, -- MLJ P.S.: I've been a Mac partisan since 1984, and only use Windows when I'm forced to. However, I do have access to lots of folks who are Windows-savvy in case I get completely lost, so I'm not too worried. :) -- Mark L. Re: 4D Mac-to-Windows Guide?primarily - for forms -
create style sheets - then apply them every object - fixed text, fields, arrays - everything On Wed, 07 May 2008 16:17:44 -0700, Mark Jeffreys wrote: > Folks: > > Some years ago I remember seeing a list or outline of recommended steps > for converting a 4D database from Mac-specific to cross-platform.
