I will barter for part or all of the price. Cash, 10x12 Shed kit, Wargaming or Lord of the Rings miniatures,Historical wargames or books, Guns, Rubbermaid storage units, a military vehicle or unusual postal Van to rebuild... Or? All will be considered toward the price. I have a small trailor will deliver (200mi) parts for suitable compensation for the feul used.
No Longer need my postal jeep since we have received LLV's. I'm offering a 1970 DJ-5C for sale or if enough parts are requested I will part out.
Jeep was purchased three years ago and had a complete new brake system intalled, new windshield, most of the engine accessories (electrical, pumps, alternator etc) replaced. Engine did well on a trickle down test but could use a head rebuild. Body and glass in good shape. Transmission rebuilt in fall of 2005 and only driven about 500 miles since then. Jeep has 4x 14" wheels with studded snow tires.
For the price I will include the following:
A complete extra Borg warner T-35 transmission, and a box of usable parts from a second.
A complete head from a newer DJ-5 jeep that was running.
3x 14" wheels with tires and a 4th tweeked wheel which is great to use when searching for wheels at junkyards
You will also receive a spare rear end.
Of course, any 37 year old postal jeep has it's gliches! This one has a broken speedometer cable, non working gas gage and a slow electrical drain which is compensated for with a battery switch. It does fine during normal driving and delivery but needs the switch off if jeep will be left unattended for more than 20-30 minutes to avoid drain on the battery.
For an addition $150 I will provide a refurbished dashboard with complete wiring harness puchased from postaljeeps.org.
