1.7.1

Since the biggest thing on the user list in what feels like months was a
question whose answer involved the range feature, I'm thinking that we really
ought to push Yves's fix out in a 1.7.1 release.

I'm thinking we should just take the short list I started for "1.8.0," call
that 1.7.1 instead, and push it out the door.  It's once again too late to
avoid having a buggy and broken version in Ubuntu LTS, but at least if we get
an official release out there, there's a chance some people will wind up
adopting it in the normal course of things, and fewer people will have to be
encouraged to either downgrade to 1.6.1 (a disappointing thing to have to
suggest) or grab SVN (a suggestion that makes many users curl up in fetal
position and start blubbering.)

I'd just go do this myself this very afternoon, but, well, I'm not feeling
motivated to do anything that complicated after I just spent the morning
writing that tutorial.

I didn't get much sleep last night, and I feel kind of crappy today.

Yeah, you're probably right.  He says wearily, after spending nearly
three days solid on release-related tediousness for other programs.

We can certainly let it sit here a bit longer.  I might have more energy for
this little undertaking come Monday or so.
