Hi,

According to http://docs.codehaus.org/display/M2ECLIPSE/New+and+Noteworthy, there's a new build, 0.9.5.20080626-1519.

The features look neat, so I decided to give it a try (plus I thought it would be nice with a build where MNGECLIPSE-568 is fixed)

But the build is not available on either the production or dev update site, nor are all the issues for 0.9.5 closed, so it can't be a production release?

So, whats the deal, am I just too eager or has there been some mistake? :)

Btw, trying to install the older 0.9.5 build that is available on the dev-update site (0.9.5.20080610-1457) results in the following error:
(On Ganymede, Mac OS X 10.5.3)

Unsatisfied dependency: [org.sonatype.m2e.sdk 0.9.5.20080610-1457] requiredCapability: org.eclipse.equinox.p2.iu/org.sonatype.m2e.prereqs.sdk/0.9.5

Any ideas?

Regards,
Erik

I was able to get 0.9.5.20080626 installed via the updater in Eclipse 3.3.2 on Mac OS X last night (11 PM PST - 26 June 2008) but it would not install in Eclipse 3.4 official Ganymede release on Mac OS X.

However this morning am unable to install 0.9.5.20080626 in Windows Eclipse 3.3.2 or Ganymede.

Perhaps we are just too eager!

Last night I was able to check out the new POM Editor which was quite nice. It's mostly all functioning -- I did find that dependency exclusion editor although working in the UI didn't insert the exclusions into the pom.xml file. At least that was the case on Mac OS X. I will try this on Windows when I'm able to install 0.9.5.20080626.

Kudos to Eugene and team for some excellent work on M2Eclipse!

Yea, guys, you are little bit too eager, but we really appreciate
this. :-)
Early feedback like this helps us a lot, so we could catch nasty bugs
before releases.

Anyways, you probably already saw the announcement for the dev build
in the mailing list. Since last time you've tried it, we have published
new dev build and fixed p2 metadata, so it should now install on Eclipse
3.4. There also few fixes in the POM editor that should resolve issues
you've noticed.

Editor should be fully functional, but if you notice some quirks,
please let us know (just try to reproduce sequence of actions, so we
could reproduce it). However the quick workaround would be to save
editor and then use "reload" button on the editor toolbar (top right
corner), which would resync form editor with the actual pom content.

  regards,
  Eugene

Eugene,

Just tried to update from a completely fresh 3.4 eclipse - i.e., unzipped the ganymede jee install file and used a new, empty workspace with .meta folder in it.

However I still see the 0.9.5.20080610-1457 update, so it appears to me as if the http://m2eclipse.sonatype.org/update-dev/ update site is not populated with the 26 June update.

With regard to my reference to 26 June update, make that 27 June since I noticed from the other posting that another update was made. Nonetheless, I still see the old 0.9.5.20080610-1457 update.

Are you behind a proxy? You can try to force it to reload update site
descriptors by loading the following urls in a web browser:

  http://m2eclipse.sonatype.org/update-dev/site.xml
  http://m2eclipse.sonatype.org/update-dev/artifacts.xml
  http://m2eclipse.sonatype.org/update-dev/content.xml

Eugene,

Thanks for the tip!

That was the problem. Our proxy was caching the old pages for the update site.

Has anyone gotten the new update to work with eclipse 3.2?

Have they broken the meta data?

Or is the list of pre-reqs now wrong in that it (incorrectly) states the
3.2 is supported.

I've checked all of the proxy issues and they are fine, as I just picked
up a new version of the eclipse checkstyle plugin.

Chris,

I am not sure what errors you are seeing, but it sound like you can't
install the latest 0.9.5 dev update.

Anyways, as we already discussed before, m2eclipse team don't have
resources to test on Eclipse 3.2. So, it is quite possible that latest
builds won't work on Eclipse 3.2. However, because we don't know if it
doesn't work, we still wanted to give others change to try it and
required platform version haven't been increased to allow that.

If you are interested to test Eclipse 3.2 support, you could try to
work your way trough the current installation requirements [1] and see
if you can find a way to install Eclipse components that would satisfy
the following m2eclipse plugins (basically just core and pom editors,
you would have to skip WTP and AJDT integration on Eclipse 3.2):

org.maven.ide.components.maven-model-edit
org.maven.ide.eclipse
org.maven.ide.eclipse.editor
org.maven.ide.eclipse.editor.xml

Here is the list of plugins not included into Eclipse platform that
are required by above m2eclipse plugins. Those plugins can be found in
Eclipse EMF and WST/WTP projects (and may require their own dependencies):

 org.eclipse.emf.ecore
 org.eclipse.emf.ecore.xmi
 org.eclipse.emf.ecore.edit
 org.eclipse.emf.ecore.editor
 org.eclipse.emf.edit
 org.eclipse.emf.common,
 org.eclipse.wst.common.emf
 org.eclipse.wst.sse.ui
 org.eclipse.wst.sse.core
 org.eclipse.wst.xml.core
 org.eclipse.jem.util

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you'd be able to configure
those required dependencies.

  Thanks

  Eugene

Sorry, perhaps I was not as clear as I should have been.

It is not a matter of a failed install, it is a matter of not detecting
anything to be installed. I am not see any errors at all. It is simply not
detecting anything to install.

Let me reiterate. You are running Eclipse 3.2, then used "Help /
Software Updates / Find and Install / Search for new features to
Install" and selected update site at
http://m2eclipse.sonatype.org/update-dev/ ? Then after scanning of that
update site, Eclipse Update manager is telling you that there is nothing
to install? Is that correct interpretation of what you are seeing?

I am using RAD 7.0.0.6 (Eclipse core 3.2.2) and when I go to
Help->Software Updates-> Find and Install-> Search for new...-> next,
etc.
I see the 0.9.5.20080627-1152 BUT on the update-dev site
from the update (proper) .... I only see some 0.9.4 components.

Also just verfied the same with Callisto.

Correct. Selecting Find Updates for existing features also failed to find
anything.

However, (even running the same instance as before) it now works.

Go figure.
