[vwnc] Sending an ICMP Echo request

I'd like to send an ICMP echo request (Ping) and receive (hopefully) the
echo reply from VW directly (not calling ping on the command line).
Has anyone done this or have any suggestions on how to do it?
It looks like some of what is needed is present on SocketAccessor...
