[vwnc] [7.6] Ctrl-\ enters character into pane

In VW7.6, hitting Ctrl-\ to bring up a Process Monitor also enters an
unprintable character (displayed as a solid box) into the active pane.
This did not happen in VW7.5.

This is especially annoying when testing code from a workspace -- since
you have the code you're running selected, the ctrl-\ *replaces* all of
your code with the unprintable char. Sometimes undo can get your code
back, but it's still annoying.
