[rvm-core] planning the next releaseI'd like to do a release in the next 2-4 weeks. It seems plausible that this could be the long awaited 3.0 release. We currently have about 77 issues targeted for 2.9.4 and 3.0. I've made a 3.0.1 and 3.1 releases in JIRA for issues that we can push off to the next minor & major release past the end June release. I think it would be nice if we tried to resolve as many of those 77 issues as we can without unduly delaying the release. Perhaps we can put on a mini-push between now and the end of June? --dave ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace. Re: [rvm-core] planning the next releaseI've merged the 2.9.4 and 3.0 release in JIRA. Our next release will be
3.0. I'd like to get this out within the next couple of weeks; as usual if we could put a small push on solving some of the minor nagging issues, it would make the release even higher quality... Things that we aren't going to fix for 3.0 can be moved off to either 3.0.1 (next minor release; appropriate target for bug fixes/regressions). 3.1 (next major release; appropriate target for features we intend to work on within the next 3-12 months) or 1000 (appropriate target for things we would like to do someday, but have no intention of doing in 2008). --dave ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sponsored by: SourceForge.net Community Choice Awards: VOTE NOW! The only remaining issues are RVM-442, RVM-440 and RVM-589. I believe these can be pushed back 3.0.1 too, unless they're nearly complete. I believe we are in good shape to release 3.0 this week. I think we may have to treat 550 as a release blocker until we can verify that it is an environmental problem on rvmppclnx64. The ppc64-linux runs on piano look good, but ppc32-linux runs are fairly unhappy on rvmppclnx64 (prototype and prototype-opt images build, but 100% crash during startup). This would be a serious regression on this platform wrt previous releases. That being said, we are really close to a release, so please hold all checkins that aren't fixing known bugs until after the release. A comprehensive testing cycle across all the platforms spans 36-48 hours, so any checkin that breaks a platform could stall a release by up to 2 days. I would like to make the release on Friday. --dave ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Jikesrvm-core mailing list Jikesrvm-core@... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/jikesrvm-core |
