[news] NetCAT Status Report - 10.Hello team,
this is the very last weekly status report and I hope you will yet find it interesting. 1. *Current status* There was a scary increase of submitted bugs (~4.1 per day) in the previous week while the average number of sent e-mails dropped down to ~12.4 messages per day. Let's take a look at the final feedback. 2. *Important stuff* * We have published _Release Candidate_ 2 (build #200711201000) last week and to be honest we don't plan to build another RC unless absolutely necessary. Fixes integrated to release60 branch after the RC2 will be included in the FCS of course. * I would like to thank to every NetCAT participant who cast his vote in the Community Acceptance survey which was closed on 11/25. To interpret its results shortly: we have a _Go to release_ NetBeans 6.0! :-) * _Detailed results_ are publicly available [1] but let me highlight some facts: - 93% of 131 respondents agree to releasing NetBeans 6.0 - Editor was found the most problematic area (5%) - Profiler is considered the most stable newly added feature - respondents are very satisfied (77%) with product consolidation and installation experience - Ruby results might not be fully valid since 87% don't use it - 9 identified issues were evaluated and none of them is a showstopper [1] http://qa.netbeans.org/processes/cat/60/results/ca_results.html * We have got 8 new bugs against Editor including Bryan Boone's _reformatting_ issue (#122519) and Peter Belbin's _error badging_ problem :-\. Very good scenario, Peter! * There were several complaints on poor _performance_ : slow start of debugging session and heavy memory usage. The former seems like a problem with strange classpath scanning on Mac OS X. Bryan or Claudio, please file this against openide/filesystems and attach the FTDs. As for the latter it would be great if you could generate FTD as well, David. * Maris Orbidans tested conversion of midlets from NetBeans 5.5 to 6.0 and reported 2 bugs and 1 RFE. IDE shouldn't certainly comment out developer's code without any notice. :-) 3. *Bug hunting* * David Thompson's issue #120257 about _not working menu_ item turned out to be a duplicate of another P1 showstopper which was fixed in release60 branch yesterday. Very good David! * Iwan Eising found another _incorrectly generated code_ (#122702) in Mobility that will not be already fixed in NetBeans 6.0 because of potential regressions. It will be documented in Release Notes though. * Claudio Rosati found a nifty workaround to _wrong compile errors_ (#111218) which most probably also explains the cause. This issue is again Mac OS specific. Thanks a lot Claudio! * Best bug reporter was Ulf Zibis with 8 submitted bugs. 4. *Statistics* Bugs submitted: 658 (+29) Open bugs: 231 (1/20/152/51/7) Posts: 2661 (+87) Any ideas for the next status report? Don't hesitate to speak up if you miss something! Best regards, -Jirka |

Re: [news] NetCAT Status Report - 10.
Hi Jiri,
I was unable to take FTD from the console application because CMD-\ didn't work when NB stalled or hung. I wasn't able to find your previous e-mail with the link to the ways to take an FTD. Can you please send me it again in order to try an alternative method? Thanks Claudio P.S. I've a project working on it is nearly impossible because of the slow NB response. I can take a movie to show what happens... let me know +------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | |\ | _/_/_/_/_/ _/_/_/_/ Claudio Rosati | \ | _/ _/ _/ Advanced ComputerSystems ACS S.p.A. | \ | _/ _/ _/ via Della Bufalotta 378 +---+ | _/ _/_/_/_/ I-00139 Roma (RM) | | _/ _/ _/ Italy | | _/ _/ _/ Phone: +39 06 8709 0516 | | | +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ ATTENZIONE: le informazioni contenute in questo messaggio sono da considerarsi confidenziali ed il loro utilizzo e' riservato unicamente al destinatario sopra indicato. Re: [news] NetCAT Status Report - 10.Hello Claudio,
please read this Wiki FAQ: http://wiki.netbeans.org/wiki/view/GenerateThreadDump If you try another ways to generate the FTD, it would be great.
