Hi.

Using HAL with libgphoto2 (I have libgphoto2-2.4.1) breaks the possibility to use HP PhotoSmart 618 in mass storage mode. In dmesg it looks like this:

libgphoto2 installs the file /usr/share/hal/fdi/information/20thirdparty/10-camera-libgphoto2.fdi and there is:

... however, I do not see that as a real solution.

BTW, Googling for "USBDEVFS_CONTROL failed cmd kio_kamera" reveals that much more camera models suffer from the same problem ...

BTW, I believe that the correct access method for HP 618 in non-mass storage mode is "ptp" (Digita) and not "proprietary".

can you please attach "lsusb -v" output for this camera to
this bugreport?

If you can switch the camera between PTP and Mass Storage , please add it
for both modes.

as for the proprietary ... well, we were asked to do this, do not remember
by who. We can change it of course, I will try to remember this
