Hi All,

Menno Knevel was kind enough to report an issue and it revealed a
couple of major bugs for JMask.  blue users interested in JMask are
highly encouraged to upgrade to 0.123.1, available at:

http://www.csounds.com/stevenyi/blue

Thanks very much to Menno!

[CHANGE LOG]

>Notes for 0.123.1<
[released 2008.06.10]

Steven Yi-----------------------------------------------------------------------

blue

    [fix] - JMask

-Duration was not being set for Mask, Accumulator, and Quantizer; if
a table was used for any values in those modifiers, the duration of
those tables were being calculated as if they were 1 beat long, so
any values generated after 1 beat would pretty much use the value
set at the end of the table; duration is now set correctly

-Dropdowns in UI's did not initialize to the value that the
edited object currently held when first populating interface

I would love to try this version. I must be extra specially stupid, as I haven't a clue.

I have the latest Java and Csound versions installed. I went to the sourceforge download page, and where the file blue_0.123.1_installer.jar is listed, what actually gets downloaded is a file named
blue_0.123.1_installer.zip. When that is extracted it creates a bunch of folders and files none of which makes any sense whatever to me.

There's also a message; "before downloading you may want to look at release notes." But I see no listing for release notes in any of the sourceforge tabs. In fact, under "Documentation" there's nothing.

According to http://www.csounds.com/stevenyi/blue/usermanual/html/installingBlue.html
you just need to run

java -jar blue_0.111.0_installer.jar

so...where do I get the .jar file?

Thanks!

The zip contains all the files that the jar file normally extracts for you, but the jar file also does some extra installations stuff, none of which can't be done without Notepad. I think all you really have to do with the zip file is, once extracted, edit the batch file and make sure the blue_home variable is set to the directory you extracted to. Make sure to enclose in double-quotes if the path has spaces.

There shouldn't be any file with name xxx_installer.zip.  Sometimes
though, programs like WinRAR might think that the installer.jar file
is an archive file (which it technically is) and it shows the file
like a zip.  Is this maybe what you saw?  If so, you can right click
and choose "Open with Java" if that is an option.

Thanks to Steven and Michael for their quick response!
Yes, there must be something in my Windows XP install that is "helping" me with file extensions...in any case, if I simply specify to save the file as a .jar, the installation starts as would be expected when launching it...
Thanks again and cheers...
