[VOTE] Retire AgilaHi everyone,
As Jakarta PMC we have a project in incubation, called Agila (if you never heard of it, have a look here : http://incubator.apache.org/agila). Since nothing is happening there since march (besides for some wiki updates) and there doesn't seem to be any signals (at least nothing that I know of) that Agila is going to pick up any steam in the near future, I like to propose that we, as sponsoring PMC, let the incubator know that we want to stop the sponsoring of Agila and retire the project. So here it is : [ ] +1 Retire the project [ ] 0 I don't care [ ] -1 Don't retire (a because would be nice) +1 from me. Mvgr, Martin |

Re: [VOTE] Retire AgilaI would have taken a different approach here - have a discussion.
I agree that I think that it should be retired - any activity had been shifted over to ODE - but I do think that a discussion was more appropriate to give the one or two remaining people in there the chance to do the right thing themselves. geir Martin van den Bemt wrote: > Hi everyone, > > As Jakarta PMC we have a project in incubation, called Agila (if you > never heard of it, have a look here : http://incubator.apache.org/agila). > Since nothing is happening there since march (besides for some wiki > updates) and there doesn't seem to be any signals (at least nothing that > I know of) that Agila is going to pick up any steam in the near future, > I like to propose that we, as sponsoring PMC, let the incubator know > that we want to stop the sponsoring of Agila and retire the project. > > So here it is : > > [ ] +1 Retire the project > [ ] 0 I don't care > [ ] -1 Don't retire (a because would be nice) > > +1 from me. > > Mvgr, > Martin > > |

Re: [VOTE] Retire AgilaL.S.,
Although I do not have a formal vote in this, I agree it would be better to retire a project that has been dead for about half a year by now. On the other hand, some of the work done in this project might still be useful for other similar (Ode) or complementary (ServiceMix) projects within the incubator. They might be interested in picking up where the Agila community left off and integrating this work with their own projects. Re: [VOTE] Retire AgilaHi Gert,
The consequence of retirement is that svn access will be moved to readonly. Since you can still read code there, the code wouldn't get lost and other projects can "fork" parts of the code into their projects. If people want to get active again on Agila, there is always a possibility to start a vote on the incubator list on opening Agila svn access. Hoop dat dit helpt ;) Mvgr, Martin Gert Vanthienen wrote: > L.S., > > Although I do not have a formal vote in this, I agree it would be better > to retire a project that has been dead for about half a year by now. Re: [VOTE] Retire AgilaHi,
This has been discussed previously in a thread in the incubator-general mailing list (see the whole thread): http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=incubator-general&m=115318086412488&w=2 As Geir mentioned the activity has been transfered to the Ode project so I don't see any reason for not retiring Agila. If I can help in the process of changing the repository to read-only, let me know...
