Hello kevin.
I think that the problem may be that your Bios haven´t any 16:10 mode
like 1680x1050. I have many computers with newer chipsets (i915 &
i945) and I use the 915resolution program to "hack" the Bios and change
some 4:3 mode for 16:10 modes. Also with i810 driver from Xorg 6.9 it's
mandatory to use modeline like you use. I also use the intel driver from
Xorg 7.1 using the -ignoreABI option that is compatible with 6.9 and
works with Xorg -configure. If you want I can send you my 915resolution
package.
