Hi all!
I've done some changes to the bindings page on gtk.org. [1]
* Removed all the language bindings that were <2.6
* Added a GNOME Binding column

This means a lot of (outdated) bindings are no longer present on the
page. If you happen to be a maintainer of any of the following projects
that got removed, even though your bindings are indeed up to date,
please tell me as soon as possible and I'll add them back.

* Xfce Foundation Classes (http://xfc.xfce.org/)
* VDK (http://vdkbuilder.sourceforge.net/)
* wxWidgets/Gtk (http://www.wxwidgets.org/)
* CL-GTK ( http://tenkan.org/clgtk/)

Was that really necessary ? Most of those "outdated" bindings should
still be usable with the latest GTK+ thanks to API compatibility, no ?

could you add back LablGTK ? It supports GTK+ up to 2.10.

Language: OCaml
Project: LablGTK

This seems way to aggressive.  For example, some of these are very actively developed and well known in the free software community; wxWidgets has a very high profile but is considered "outdated" here?

What defines 'outdated'. The gst bindings aren't outdated AFAIK.

If possible I'd like to see this added back. I'm one of the maintainers.

I do realise we'd not added much support for new features in Gtk+ 2.8
and above but it does build and work against those versions. It is in
fairly widespread use in the Haskell community and we ship the windows
installer along with Gtk+ 2.10.x.

We are planning to add more of the newer apis but we are taking some
time to switch our binding autogeneration system from using the Gtk#
scripts to use the new .def files that pygtk and other bindings now use.

Once we've got that done, generating the bindings for the new apis
should be straightforward.

So basically I don't think we're sufficiently up to date with releases,
use and maintenance to justify remaining listed.

Duncan

Andreas, I hope you can take more initiative and do some web search on the web sites for these bindings.  I am sure many of these people are not on this list; these projects by themselves are major projects and their people do not consider themselves a subcommunity of gtk+ and they may not even know the existence of this mailing list.  So you cannot wait for them to notify you.

Don't worry, I'm adding things back when I get the proper status on how up to date the bindings are.
What is the status of XFCE Foundation Classes, vxWidgets, guile-gtk, Pascal, Pike and Smalltalk?
Fully or partly up to date for 2.6, 2.8, 2.10 and/or 2.12?

I don't know exactly how 'up to date' the gst ones are - but removing
them unilaterally without speaking to that project on the gnu gst user
list is pretty damn poor form.

-Rob (Slightly aggressive tone coming in becase my previous email asking
about what *defines* outdated had no reply).

Many of them probably aren't on this list. I don't hack on the gst ones
at the moment, but I'm pretty sure the folk that do *aren't* on the
list.

Gnome provides excellent ABI compatibility; by that measure none of the
bindings projects should actually bit-rot.

Still, up to you, if you want a 'clean list' rather than an accurate
one.
