It has been many long months since Light Craft last released a Linux
release (version  2.4  in fact). I know that many of our
Linux brethren felt forgotten, ignored or rejected because of this long
delay.  To all of you who remained loyal Linux users through it all I
want to say, I want to offer my deepest apologies and my most sincere
thanks..

I know that some of you have heard rumors of  a forthcoming new release
of /LightZone for Linux/. There have been some unverified reports of
Anton Kast leading a team of Light Craft elves at the north pole,
 working feverishly at each night complete a new /LightZone for Linux/
version with all the same features as our 3.x Windows and Mac users in
time for Christmas deliveries.

Others may have heard gloomy forecasts of LightZone for Linux's untimely
demise; after all, have you ever tried building a digital image
processor from wood and snow? Some tongue-in-cheek pessimists
sardonically blogged that* "*/*Linux users will not see a new LightZone
release until Hell freezes over".*/*  *

Still others of  you have been curious about the long silence at Light
Crafts regarding the future of LightZone for Linux.  Would this year be
a bring a holiday surprise for Linux users? Or would Linux users just
receive a lump of coal this year (possibly subject to CO2 cap taxes)?

To those pessimists, let me say this: as humorist Mark Twain once said
concerning rumors of his own death, so too have/ *rumors of the death of
LightZone for Linux have been exaggerated.*/

Let us give thanks that we live in remarkable times . The Internet is a
truly marvelous invention; not only does it enable us to keep up to date
on the latest happenings at the north pole using Google Earth, but /*you
can check the weather reports for even the most distant points of the

Indeed,* I was able to check the weather forecast  for Hell (Norway) at

at Light Craft's HQ.

As you can see from the temperature forecast chart on that page,
 temperatures over the coming  week are expected to fluctuate daily

just about freezing every day this week in Hell*. /

release not arriving until Hell froze over, the rest of us can now
