The GeoSOA research group (http://geosoa.scg.ulaval.ca) of the Centre
for Research in Geomatics at Laval University, Quebec City, Canada is
proud to announce the release of a new version of GeoKettle.

GeoKettle v3.1.0-20081103 is still in alpha version but demonstrates the
potential of this ETL tool dedicated to spatial data warehouses and
Spatial OLAP (SOLAP) applications.


What's new since release 2.5.2-20080531 ?

  - The GeoKettle extensions were ported to the new Pentaho Data
    Integration (PDI) version 3.1.0-GA. As such, this release of
    GeoKettle includes all the improvements from the new PDI version.

  - Changed the core Geometry object framework from GeOxygene to the Java
    Topology Suite (JTS).

  - Added native support for Oracle Spatial and MySQL geospatial DBMS.

  - Speed improvements: due to the upgrade of PDI core and to the JTS
    library, GeoKettle now offers better throughput. We measured a
    typical speedup of row throughput between 15% and 60% (depending of
    the transformation) when using geospatial data.

GeoKettle ha tutte le funzionalità di Kettle, con in più quelle
spaziali. Quindi, puoi creare singole trasformazioni su flussi dati e\o
job ossia un flusso di trasformzaioni.
In tal caso puoi richiamare tutti gli script che vuoi :-)

Ciao, sto sperimentando GeoKettle...

ho fatto un processo, solo che ho messo come output una tabella postgis.
Però la voglio spaziale, sembra che GeoKettle non la crei così...
è giusto? O lo devo fare io a mano?

Tu puoi terminare il processo su una tabella di output che può essere
quella di Postgis (Oracle Spatial o MySQL spatial)...
credo quindi che tu debba già avere una tabella nel tuo Postgresql con
estensione spaziale.
Ad ogni modo, nulla ti vieta di eseguire uno SCRIPT SQL da Kettle che ti
crea la tabella prima di inserire i dati !!

Qual è la cosa importante? Che Geokettle riesce a "trasferire" le
geometrie, riconoscere il tipo geometry ed i predicati topologici in
modo tale da gestire nel flusso dati anche quelli spaziali!
