A very alpha release of a simple accounting software for home and
small business.

http://freeacc.blogspot.com/

I need some feedback on how to improve the UI / Usability.

*Lots* of things need to be done :)

Can you explain what is the purpose of this software and what are its
features?

Do you have in mind something to match Tally in India?

That is a totally different animal. Just to make a point, do you realize that
in some countries kmymoney is next to useless, mainly becuase things like
checques are non-existent???

Just to clarify this: people are complaining that KMyMoney does *not* support
cheque printing. And why does KMyMoney have support for online banking
protocols like OFX and HBCI? Or am I missing something here?

I just checked out Kmymoney.

What it lacks is the small business part and some level of flexibility like

- stock maintenance (purchase/sale)
- Multilevel ledgers (maybe there is a way to do it?) eg : I want a ledger under Investment > Bank Fixed Deposits > XYZ Bank Fixed deposits > ....

What I can borrow from it - Some of the UI ideas - really nicely done !

To also show up in the line up of this kind of software: Have you
seen Kraft already? Please check

http://kraft.sourceforge.net/index.php?body=&lang=en

Krafts main features:
- easy generation of offers, receipts etc.
- top quality print outs
- text templates for all parts of the documents
- calculation support for item templates
- consquent KDE integration (usage of KAdressbook etc.)

The next release of Kraft will be available soon. It's main new feature
will be all what is needed to work with percentage based allowance. After
that I'll start the KDE 4 port.

And yeah - Kraft could also make good use of some more contributors :-)

regards,

Klaas

PS: I was not able to find the sources of your project? Is there
a package or source tarball somewhere?

Some parts of this message have been removed. Learn more about Nabble's security policy.

So if you like the KMyMoney interface and you just think it's missing some functionality, why not look into adding that functionality to KMyMoney? I think this would be much more beneficial for everyone then writing a new app.

if it's more a SMB (small/medium business) app you're looking at, you may want
to check out Kraft:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/kraft/

it's rather good; we use it to run KDE e.V. in fact =)

even if you work on your own app, Kraft may give you some ideas and thoughts.
imho, though, writing software like this is not a small task and pooling your
efforts with others can be a great thing.
