[Feature Request] Open "Accounts" in their own tabsI have no idea how likely this is to get into the release, but I
thought I would give it a shot (tell me if this is the wrong place to post this). Ever since I started using the Thunderbird nightlies I have been hoping and praying I would be able to open each of the five accounts that I have in Thunderbird in their own tabs, and have new email counts shown on the tabs (think having multiple tabs in Firefox with different email accounts on them and it said "Gmail - Inbox (1)", "Hotmail - Inbox (3)", etc). I think this would be nice functionality. It would not have to change the current functionality too much, I don't think. The account sidebar could be on each tab, but it should remember the state of the account sidebar on a per tab basis. Right now if I open Account #1 Inbox in one tab, and Account #2 Drafts in another tab, both accounts will be uncollapsed in both tabs. Thanks! Brizz Bugzilla is the place to file "Enhancement" requests. We do ask that You perform a "Due Diligence" search to keep duplicate reports to a minimum. A report should be for only one issue even if additional ideas are related. -- Ron K. Who is General Failure, and why is he searching my HDD? You should check out bug 21899 [1]. Especially with the new Folder Pane providing a more Global Inbox view people will likely want to have individual account Inboxes opened up in tabs. If you want to take a look, you can download our cookiepie firefox extension. It was reviewed on Lifehacker some months ago: http://lifehacker.com/396818/cookiepie-logs-into-multiple-gmail-accounts-simultaneously It's not perfect, but it was a hard work to surpass Firefox limitation in this aspect. srw _______________________________________________ dev-apps-thunderbird mailing list dev-apps-thunderbird@... https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/dev-apps-thunderbird |

Re: [Feature Request] Open "Accounts" in their own tabsI would like to add my support for this idea. I have five accounts I
track regularly, each with many folders and subfolders. Scrolling through them is a huge part of the problem of managing my email. Tabs would allow me to deal with these accounts much more efficiently. The problem I have is that I interact with 3 domains at work, and control a further 8 from home. That means that I need at least 4 totally separate 'zones' for review of multiple accounts. In any given context ('zone'), I still need to know that other email is unread in the others. The current use of a long expandable tree is the main problem. Any, not forgetting TB losing all your settings sometimes on shut down, and opening / closing all tree branches. Even a separation into super-folders or views like the 'app that can not be named' would be a massive improvement Admittedly that other app. (which I am forced to use a work) does an appallingly bad job of this. -- _______________________________________________ SoftDesign Group Dowden Software Associates P O Box 31 132, Lower Hutt 5040, NEW ZEALAND _______________________________________________ dev-apps-thunderbird mailing list dev-apps-thunderbird@... https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/dev-apps-thunderbird |
