Category: SC Language Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: sciss (sciss) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: sclang crashes when compiling errorneous code Initial Comment: sclang in latest SVN (7691, but also with older versions) still crashes when compiling, if there are compiler errors. makes it pretty painfull to develop classes since you will need to find the mistakes by hand in another editor before you can launch SuperCollider.app again ;-( attached is a crash log. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=474248&aid=2022297&group_id=54622 _______________________________________________ sc-dev mailing list info (subscribe and unsubscribe): http://swiki.hfbk-hamburg.de:8888/MusicTechnology/880 archive: http://www.listarc.bham.ac.uk/marchives/sc-dev/ search: http://www.listarc.bham.ac.uk/lists/sc-dev/search/ |

Re: [ supercollider-Bugs-2022297 ] sclang crashes when compiling errorneous codeHey Sciss - I've been working on tons of classes lately, and haven't
noticed this... can you post a problem class as an example? Re: [ supercollider-Bugs-2022297 ] sclang crashes when compiling errorneous codeI get this a lot. It's been happening for the past few months. Can't
remember the exact pattern but it tends to happen when I'm developing a class file (new one or old, not sure). If there's a typo or something when I recompile, the whole app vanishes. Can't seem to trigger it right now but I'll let you know when I do. Re: [ supercollider-Bugs-2022297 ] sclang crashes when compiling errorneous code
Well, not a lot, but it crashes with a uniform distribution here with almost-latest realizedsound.
Same here: it sometimes crashes when there's an error in a new class. About says: Version 2008-06-02 (Revision 7617) -a- On 19 Jul 2008, at 19:38, Dan Stowell wrote:

It seems to me right now that only a new class definition with a typo, which would provoke a parse error, makes the app crash on recompile. On next bootings or recompilings there would be the parse error posted, as expected, but no more crash. But, sorry, not time to test this systematically. Re: [ supercollider-Bugs-2022297 ] sclang crashes when compiling errorneous codeI've been doing lots of development recently and this has never once happened to me.
and I make typos all the time. the difference is that I don't edit my classes in SC, but rather in TextMate. so this suggests it might have something do with Document and/or I'm guessing something to do with the file that has the syntax error being open at the time. just a possible lead. f;lix
