To Cameron and the group,

I assume you are referring to a "hotspot" in the middle of a frame.
This is a know issue shooting IR and has to do with anti-reflection
coatings. Some of these coatings are less effective suppressing IR
bouncing around the lens innards - leading to some plus density, a
hotspot, in the center.

My converted Sony DSC-R1, which has a fixed zoom lens, shows this
hotspot more with the deeper filters, like the 87c, and less with a
25a. See if you can find a good combination of lens and filter for
your system. My solution has been to use a bandpass filter, an XDP,
sold to me by MaxMax.com. This filter only passes a narrow light band
around 750nm (my guess, no stats available). This filter lowers the
camera's sensitivity, but suppresses the hotspot. Anyhow, most of
these soft-edged spots can be corrected in digital post production.
