"mode2" for userspace drivers? For remote code search

Hi,

How do userspace drivers show their raw signal output, like mode2 did
for kernel drivers?  

Either I've missed something or mode2 seems to be just for drivers that
create an lirc[0+] device.

I'm just evaluating the feasibility of an LIRC remote code
search/lookup.  While our LIRC Config listing* certainly doesn't rival
the lirc.org** one in size, LIRC Config stores headers & codes in a
searchable DB format suitable for lookups from mode2 style data.

It's not possible currently. I've already thought of implementing  
something like this but didn't find the time yet.

With latest code from CVS mode2 supports it for drivers using  
LIRC_MODE_MODE2.
